While sitting in the sun last week I had an idea, which then developed into Easter presents for two of my favorite
people:
I would love to make many more of these dolls, but I have to wait first for the transfer paper to arrive.
So, in the meantime, here is a DIY for you:
Start by selecting a photo of the person you want to turn into a doll.
My photos were about 14 cm times 20 cm (5.5 by 7.8 inches), so that they would fit onto my last sheet of transfer paper,
but you can make them any size you want.
After doing a test print, print it onto your transfer paper. For more info how to work with transfer paper check here:
Then use your iron to transfer the pictures onto the fabric:
I didn't have a pattern to make the dolls, but just cut out a piece of white fabric for the back of the head and two pieces of colorful fabric for the body. As you can see, my cat was very interested in the process :-):
Sew the head onto the body (right sides facing each other). I included a piece of lace to hide the neckline. Then sew the back of the head onto the back of the body.
Afterwards sew the back and the front together, again with the right sides facing each other. Leave an opening at the bottom:
Then start to add arms and whatever else you would like to add (pockets, belt, accessories...).
I glued the arms on, but if you would like to sew them on do it before sewing the back and the front together. Stuff your dolls and hand stitch the opening at the bottom:
Enjoy your dolls!
Lots of love and a beautiful day,
P.S. I am linking to these lovely parties.
