Dream Catcher

Dear eyes, good night,
In golden light
The stars around you gleam;
On you I press
With soft caress
A little lovely dream.

Sarojini Naidu

I am feeling very dreamy today, so here a quick tutorial for a dream catcher.

You will need:

1 macrame or embroidery hoop or a subtle branch
Wool
Feathers
Lace, yarn, beads or other things to decorate

Start by putting the wool around your hoop. You can either just wrap it or do it so it makes a little knot:

Once your hoop is covered, the fun part begins

I sewed some lace onto the hoop, and then started with the web. You do it just like you made the little knots, just space it wider. The first round goes around your hoop, the next round goes in the middle of the string, and so on.

If you use beads insert them now onto your string.
Keep making little knots until your web is closed. I unfortunately only remembered to take pictures when my web was nearly done, but the principal is the same:

Hang some feather and decorate further in which ever way you want to:

And now catch yourself the sweetest dreams :-)

  3. So pretty! I live 500 yrds. from a large Indian Reserve. My daughter adopted a traumatised boy who suffered from nightmares and I bought him a dreamcatcher to keep them away from him. He won't sleep anywhere without it now. ~ Maureen
