I have plenty of gorgeous new tops in my closet.
Unfortunately I can't wear them because I do not have pants or skirts.
Well, that is not quite true, I have a couple of really cool jeans, but it is far too hot for those at the moment.
An additional little problem is that every time I go and look for a skirt I come home with more lovely tops.
So something had to be done, and quickly (before I am completely broke).
Apart from not having a skirt I also don't have a functioning sewing machine.
What now, as people like to say here :-).
Luckily while cleaning up I came across the rest of the fabric I used for making a tassel belt.
It looked just perfect. Sturdy and in a wonderful non-color that was NOT grey (see, I am keeping my resolutions :-) ).
I used a wrap-around skirt I had as a pattern and just made it a bit longer (it is too short to be worn without pants).
If you want to make one, the sides are 53 cm long (20.8 inches), the top is 115 cm wide measured along the curve (45.2 inches) and the bottom 160 cm wide (63 inches, also along the curve).
This is more or less a size 8.
Cut the fabric (being artificial leather it doesn't have to be hemmed), sew some push buttons at the end of the fabric and where the other end of the fabric meets the skirt on the inside, and you are done!
Here is my new skirt:
I am linking to these great parties!
Have a wonderful, creative, fun-filled day

That is simply gorgeous, Jutta. I'll keep that in mind cos I badly need to get some nice skirts for my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteVielen Dank liebe Sonja! Es ist der einfachste Rock, den ich je gemacht habe (wenn ich's mir recht überleg ist es auch der einzige :-) ). Dir alles Liebe
